1. Is the Pointe Starter Kit only for beginner pointe students?
The Pointe Starter Kit is an essential set of items designed with beginner pointe students in mind, but it also makes an excellent gift for pointe dancers of all levels. You can never have enough lambs wool, toe tape, or massage tools, and who doesn't love getting a cute key chain? Plus, advanced dancers often have multiple pairs of shoes going at the same time, which makes having an extra mesh bag a necessity.
2. Why do I need a mesh pointe shoe bag?
Traditional paste pointe shoes, which are a majority of the pointe shoes made today, gradually breakdown over time due to wear & tear and the softening of the paste due to moisture. When you dance, your feet sweat, and if you don't fully allow your pointe shoes to air dry after dancing, they will "die" much more quickly. A mesh pointe shoe bag is ventilated with small holes, thus allowing your shoes to air dry while still being able to contain all your accessories. Additionally, the Pillows for Pointes Super Pillowcase™ mesh bags have a convenient inner pocket for storing your toe pads, because you don't want to leave your sweaty toe pads inside of your pointe shoes either.
3. How do I use lambs wool and toe tape?
As your shoes break in, you may experience some extra pain or pressure. To ease this, simply rip off a small bit of lambs wool and place inside your pointe shoes or your toe pads to add a little extra comfort wherever you need it.
If you notice rubbing or redness on your toe knuckles or heels, that is a sign that you may be developing a blister. Simply cover/wrap the affected area with toe tape to help protect the affected area & prevent blisters. If you already have a blister, use the toe tape to keep a bandage in place. Toe tape can also be used for taping toe spacers or lambs wool in place.
4. Are the pointe shoe key chains real pointe shoes?
No, they are miniature replicas of pointe shoes for decorative purposes only. Often, dancers will write the date & name of their first pair of pointe shoes on the bottom of their pointe shoe key chain, so that they'll always remember when they got their first pair.
